About Us

From Germany to Canada

Hi! My name is Marianne. I grew up in Germany, where merino wool layers are a staple in children’s wardrobes. Babies and kids wear merino one-pieces, jackets, and base layers through every season — a comfortable and trusted choice for German families.

When I became a mother in Canada, my family began sending merino clothing as gifts. I also had a small collection that had been passed down from my sister's kids.

Those few merino pieces quickly became our favourites. They held up beautifully, kept my children comfortable through the changing seasons of life in a small mountain town in British Columbia, and made everyday life simpler. We reached for them constantly.

But I soon realized how difficult it was to find high-quality merino clothing for children here in Canada — especially the practical and durable boiled wool outerwear that is so common in Germany.

That’s when the idea for Wildkind took shape. Our mission is to make organic German merino wool clothing easier for Canadian families to find.

Chosen with care

We partner with a small selection of trusted German brands we have personal experience with, and each with a long-standing expertise in natural textiles. From their collections, we thoughtfully curate a range of base layers, knit wool pieces, and — my personal favourite — boiled wool outerwear. Every item is made from GOTS-certified organic fibres and produced with care, quality, and longevity in mind.

Wildkind is rooted in the idea that children don’t need more clothing — they need better clothing. Timeless pieces that can be worn often, passed down, and enjoyed through every season of childhood.

So thank you for being here.

If you have any questions, I’d love to hear from you at hello@wildkind-merino.ca
